Abstract

The lack of residents’ awareness to advance their study to University in the border area of Jagoi Babang District, West Kalimantan, Indonesia made the pupils around the border area almost less educate or stagnant both in the numbers and quality of their education. There are many residents of the high school age was drop out or did not advance their school to university level. But ironically, almost all resident has android cellphone but it functional as calling and messaging only.This program offers an alternate solution for local resident to get access of higher education information by using their cellphones. This program called ad SMART e-Cons. This was private service that provide by our team for facilitate the local residents’ curiosity about process in higher education. Most of the local pupils has working as farmer, as cotter so it has been most difficulties for us to gather all of them in one time. Therefore, from 138 families only there are 34 family’s members had been volunteer for this program. And this was reasoning why our team has decided to deliver the SMART e-Cons sheets to their house (all of residents) include volunteer that present in main session.This program was implemented by using the method of coordination, implementation to reporting. These activities can also contribute to increase information about the importance of education in university which certainly has many entry channels including through scholarships.This program’s result that 53% resident able to access the link and able to give feedback for the team, 50% able to access the link only, and 100% resident able to give feedback only (doesn’t know to click the link).Finally, our purpose to give a brief explanation for local residents of Gersik Village about entrances university both in country and overseas university without worries about tuitions fee and sort of kinds.

Abstract

The purpose of service programs was designed for water filter by using kerubung sand. The method of designing the water purification was literature study on the specifics articles that related to the simple water purification process with the slow water filter method. The development of the filter method by the service team using the kerubung sand. The service teams’ considerations in choosing local materials as the main component as water purification because it was easy to get, less price event some things can be obtained for free because they were available in the wild, or it can be made easily. The results of the water purification design by using the slow water method with kerubung sand had been proportion of 15: 4: 4: 1 with the types of materials were kerubung sand, zeolite sand, the palm fiber, and activated carbon, respectively. It is hoped that the successful creation of the water purification design composition of the slow water method using kerubung sand will make the quality of water produced from the filter process better than before. The addition output of this service program was the publication of copyright certificate of the manual book for slow water purification method. The conclusion that can be concluded from this design process was that the use of kerubung sand as a filter media is alleged to be a solution for filtering well water at the location of PKM partners

Abstract

This program was carried out in the Indonesia-Malaysia border area, precisely in Jagoi Babang District, Gersik Village. The purpose of holding this service is to attract the interest of elementary school students, especially in border areas in learning science. The method used in this program was in the form of scientific demonstrations using household materials (daily utensils and food ingredients) by official team to 22 elementary students at State Elementary School 04 PAUM, Paum Hamlet, Gersik Village, Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency. The projects that were demonstrated included: 1) Anti-shatter magic balloons, 2) Anti-nail magic balloons, 3) Magic Plastics, 4) Automatic balloon blowers, 5) The bending rays and, 6) Magic Glass. The results of the program shown that the students’ interest of science at State Elementary School 04 PAUM were quite positive where 90% (20 students) gave positive statements about the activity, students 5% (1 student) did not give a response, and 5% (1 student) gave a negative response to the activity of this program sequences. These results provide an early description that science lessons for elementary school age children are quite requested if they are delivered using interesting methods
